Rabbi Jablon likes to teach students the difference between athletes who are role models and those who are mere entertainers. He invited Lou Brissie to Torah Academy of Greater Philadelphia to share his story and words of wisdom. Lou Brissie is a World War II hero and former pitcher for the Philadelphia Athletics (where he made the 1949 All Star team) and Cleveland Indians.
He spoke to students about surviving near fatal injuries and numerous surgeries to reconstruct his leg to make the Major Leagues. Today he still visits Veterans' Hospitals to give hope and strength to other soldiers injuried in America's wars. He also shares his rules that life has taught him. You can read these here.
